Stephen Ridsdale is a renowned photographer who has worked
for many of Yorkshires most prestigious institutions and photographed n
umerous celebrities for the radio and television stations in the area.
Stephen has extensive knowledge of locations and equipment to make
sure your photographic needs are met.
When we started work with Stephen we looked at his client
base and identified which areas that a website could help with in
promoting Stephen’s photographs and work.
For this reason the website has two portfolio sections detailing his PR work and his wedding work.

The site is designed to be "static" this means that no matter what size you view the site
at, the main section will stay at the same size - so there is no distortion to the images.
At Cogitar Software we always develop sites so that people viewing your site
see the content in the middle of the screen.

1 - Browser Compatibility |
|
|
We make sure that our websites work with the majority
of the browsers that will visit your site (Firefox / Netscape / Microsoft Internet Explorer).
This was even more important as whilst 85% of the traffic on the
Internet visiting our sites originates from PC based platforms, the publishing industry
tends to use Apple Macintosh © so we had to make sure
this site worked well cross platform. |

2 - Strong branding |

Working with Stephen we developed a strong brand identity.
As Stephen is well known in his industry we decided to use the typography of his name to
brand the site.

3 - Static design |
|
|
The site is designed to show images at a set size, so in this case the website is constrained
to exist inside a small 800x600 pixel box.
Whilst normally we would not do this, when dealing with photographs this is an important approach
to help make sure undesirable scaling and compositions problems do not occur.

4 - Portfolio Expansion |
|
|
We develop all our sites with scalability in mind.
The sites are all designed to allow owners to work with Cogitar Software to deliver
future expansion without major changes to the site structure.
In this case the client will need to have additional images added to the portfolios
in the wedding and PR sections of the site.
