Paul Ridsdale is a renowned photographer who has won awards for his work.
You may well have seen Paul’s work and not realised, so widely published is his work.
Paul has an extensive catalogue of images to suit any photographic need.
Often picture editors in the major national newspapers, regional publication magazines
and trade magazines use Paul's work on a regular basis.
When we started work with Paul we looked at his client
base and identified which areas that a website could help with in
promoting Paul’s photographs and work.

The site is designed to be "fluid" this means that no matter what size you view the site
at, it should fill the screen.
At Cogitar Software we can develop "fluid" sites so that people viewing your site
don't see a site marooned in the middle of the screen - unless the client asks for that!

1 - Browser Compatibility |
|
|
We make sure that our websites work with the majority
of the browsers that will visit your site (Firefox / Netscape / Microsoft Internet Explorer).
This was even more important as whilst 85% of the traffic on the
Internet visiting our sites originates from PC based platforms, the publishing industry
tends to use Apple Macintosh © so we had to make sure
this site worked well cross platform. |

2 - Strong branding |
|

Working with Paul we developed a strong brand identity.
Whilst Paul shoots in a range of mediums (35mm - plate - Black and White to Colour)
we wanted to make the site different.
By using black and white images we made the text content stand out. |

3 - Fluid design |
|
|
If you view the site on an 800 x 600 pixels screen the
site will fill the full screen.
If you view the site in a screen resolution of 1400 x 1050 pixels the site will still
fill the full screen. Developing sites like this has an impact on the development as
you have to think about how the graphics will work to the best effect.
At Cogitar Software we can do that - and we do that, we can deliver sites that work.

4 - Expansion |

We develop all our sites with scalability in mind.
The sites are all designed to allow owners to work with Cogitar Software to deliver
future expansion without major changes to the site structure.

Using Cogitar CogStat Recorder © and working with Paul we were able to
identify areas where we could help promote traffic to PaulRidsdale.com .
Paul also outlined with us how he had found a potential gap in the market for his services.
After a discussion about what was possible it was decided that a new site would help move Paul
in the direction he wanted to take his business in.
One of the features of good website development is about working with clients and
planning from the outset the needs they may have in future years.
Because we planned ahead when Paul decided to become an agent for other photographers and needed a simple site to
promote his business we could provide it.
For Paul's new business needs, we changed some of the graphics and substituted
the black and white images for colour images to help promote a different website feel,
at a vastly reduced price.
